This qualification recognises and extends the knowledge and skills of experienced business practitioners working in operational, supervisory, and team leadership roles.

As a graduate, you’ll be able to apply business knowledge across a range of operational functions, contribute to organisational performance, lead workplace activities and projects, and support positive business outcomes in diverse and changing environments.

Are you an experienced business practitioner?

The New Zealand Diploma in Business (Level 5) is designed for people who have developed business knowledge and skills through workplace experience and want to gain a nationally recognised qualification.

This qualification recognises the learning that occurs through work and provides an opportunity to reflect on your experience, connect practice with business theory, and demonstrate your capability through a portfolio of evidence.

As a graduate, you'll be able to apply business knowledge across areas such as operations, stakeholder relationships, project management, organisational improvement, and team leadership. You'll also strengthen your understanding of ethical practice, workplace culture, and business in the New Zealand context.

The Capable NZ difference

The Capable NZ process centres you and your own career – you’ll reflect on where you’ve come from, where you are now, and where you want to go.

You will:

  • identify the experiences, influences, and learning that have shaped your professional development
  • analyse your workplace practice and evaluate your strengths, skills, and business capability
  • investigate the New Zealand business environment and apply business concepts to real organisational contexts
  • complete workplace-based case studies that demonstrate operational effectiveness, leadership, organisational change, and project management
  • evaluate your capability against the graduate profile and undertake new learning where required
  • reflect on your development as a business practitioner and prepare a portfolio of evidence for assessment.

One key point of difference with Capable NZ study is that you complete in-depth workplace case studies and reflective activities that critically analyse your professional practice and demonstrate how your experience meets the requirements of the qualification.
